Medicaid & Insurance Accepted — Quality Dental Care for Every Budget in Kendall

Finding a dentist who accepts your insurance shouldn't be this hard. Finding a GOOD dentist who accepts your insurance — one with modern equipment, bilingual staff, and evening hours — shouldn't be nearly impossible. But in Kendall, it often is.

PureSmile Miami was built to change that. We accept Medicaid for adults and children, PPO plans, HMO plans, and cash patients. Same office, same equipment, same team, same quality of care — regardless of how you pay. Because in our practice, your insurance card doesn't determine the standard of treatment you receive.

Medicaid Dental Coverage at PureSmile Miami

We're a proud Medicaid provider, and we want to be clear about what that means for you.

Many dental offices in the Kendall area either don't accept Medicaid at all, or accept it only for children. PureSmile Miami accepts Medicaid for both adults and children — a distinction that matters enormously in a community where thousands of adults have Medicaid coverage but can't find a dentist willing to see them.

What Florida Medicaid covers for adults:

Comprehensive dental exams and X-rays. Professional cleanings (prophylaxis). Fillings for cavities. Extractions when necessary. Root canals when medically necessary. Emergency dental treatment. Dentures and certain prosthetics based on medical necessity.

What Florida Medicaid covers for children (EPSDT):

All of the above, plus additional services under the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment benefit. This includes orthodontics when the malocclusion meets severity criteria, fluoride treatments, sealants, and space maintainers. Children's dental coverage through Medicaid is comprehensive — most preventive and restorative needs are covered.

Managed Medicaid plans we work with:

Florida Medicaid operates primarily through managed care plans. We work with the major plans serving Miami-Dade County, including Sunshine Health, Molina Healthcare, Staywell (WellCare), Simply Healthcare, and Humana. If you're unsure which plan you have, bring your card — we'll verify your eligibility and benefits while you're here.

PPO Insurance

If you have dental insurance through your employer, there's a good chance it's a PPO plan. PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) plans give you the flexibility to see any dentist, but you pay less when you see an in-network provider.

Most PPO plans cover preventive care at 100% (two exams, two cleanings, and X-rays per year), basic procedures like fillings at 80%, and major procedures like crowns and root canals at 50%. These are typical percentages — your specific plan may differ.

We verify your PPO benefits before treatment and provide a clear breakdown of what your plan covers and what your out-of-pocket cost will be. No surprises at checkout.

HMO Insurance

HMO dental plans require you to choose a primary care dentist and get referrals for specialist care. If you've selected PureSmile Miami as your primary dental provider — or would like to — we can handle all of your routine dental needs and coordinate specialist referrals when necessary.

HMO plans typically have lower premiums but more restrictions on which dentists you can see. The advantage: your copays for covered services are usually fixed and predictable.

Cash and Uninsured Patients

No insurance? You're still welcome — and you'll still receive excellent care.

We offer competitive cash rates that are well below the Miami-Dade average for comparable services. During your first visit, we'll present a complete treatment plan with transparent pricing. You'll know exactly what everything costs before we begin, and we'll prioritize treatment based on urgency and your budget.

We also stay informed about programs that can help uninsured patients access care. Community health programs, sliding-scale options, and financing plans may be available depending on your situation. Ask our team — we'll help you find a path to the care you need.

Medicare Advantage Dental Benefits

If you're 65 or older with a Medicare Advantage plan, you may have dental benefits that you're not using. Many Medicare Advantage plans in Florida include $1,000 to $5,000 or more in annual dental benefits — and these benefits expire at the end of each calendar year. Use them or lose them.

Covered services vary by plan but often include exams, cleanings, fillings, extractions, dentures, and sometimes implants and crowns. We verify your specific benefits and help you understand exactly what's covered. Our bilingual team is experienced with Medicare Advantage patients and understands the unique needs of older adults — from medication interactions to accessibility considerations.

If you or a family member has Medicare Advantage and hasn't been to the dentist recently, call us. You may have thousands of dollars in dental benefits waiting to be used.

How Insurance Works at PureSmile Miami

We handle the complexity so you don't have to. Here's what to expect:

Before your visit: Call us or fill out our contact form with your insurance information. We'll verify your benefits and let you know what's covered before you walk in the door.

At your visit: We present a treatment plan with clear costs — what your insurance covers, what your copay is, and what (if anything) you'd pay out of pocket. You approve the plan before we start any treatment.

After your visit: We file all insurance claims for you. You don't deal with paperwork, calls to the insurance company, or reimbursement hassles. If there's ever a question about a claim, our team handles it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept my insurance?
We accept Medicaid (adults and children), most PPO plans, HMO plans, and Medicare Advantage dental benefits. If you're unsure whether we accept your specific plan, call us with your insurance information — we'll verify it while you're on the phone.

What if my insurance doesn't cover a procedure I need?
We'll always present alternatives. If insurance doesn't cover a recommended treatment, we'll explain what IS covered that addresses the same issue, what the out-of-pocket cost would be for the recommended treatment, and whether there are financing options available. We never let insurance limitations dictate clinical recommendations — we tell you what you need, then help you figure out how to make it work.

Can I use Medicaid for cosmetic dental work?
Medicaid covers treatments that are medically necessary, not cosmetic. However, many procedures that improve appearance are also medically necessary — a crown for a broken tooth restores function AND appearance. We'll always frame your treatment in terms of medical necessity when applicable so you get the maximum benefit from your coverage.

Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. For treatments that aren't fully covered by insurance, we work with financing options that allow you to spread the cost over time. We believe financial constraints shouldn't prevent anyone from getting the dental care they need.

Is the office bilingual?
Fully. Every team member speaks English and Spanish fluently. From scheduling your appointment to understanding your insurance benefits to discussing treatment options — everything happens in your preferred language. This is especially important for navigating insurance, where the details matter.
