A smile makeover isn't a single treatment; it's a plan. We study your face, your smile line, and the color and proportion of your teeth, and from there we combine whatever is needed: whitening, veneers, crowns, gum contouring or straightening first with orthodontics.
PureSmile Miami opens November 1, 2026 in Kendall. We will offer smile design with digital planning, so you can see a preview of the result before committing to anything.
Veneers. Thin shells of porcelain or composite bonded to the visible surface of the tooth. They correct color, shape, size and minor misalignment. Porcelain veneers are more durable and stain-resistant; composite veneers take fewer visits and cost less.
Cosmetic crowns. When a tooth is badly damaged or has had a root canal, a crown protects it and improves its appearance at the same time.
Whitening first. Whitening is almost always done before veneers or crowns, because they don't change color afterwards. That way the final shade is chosen with your teeth already lighter.
Gum contouring. When too much gum shows when you smile or the gumline isn't symmetrical, adjusting it makes a big difference to the result.
Orthodontics first. Sometimes a better aesthetic result comes from moving the teeth first and reshaping as little as possible afterwards. It's more conservative than covering a poor position with veneers.
In cosmetic dentistry it's easy to overdo it. A problem that could be solved with whitening and two composite restorations can end up being treated with ten veneers, and that means irreversibly reshaping healthy teeth.
Our approach is to start with what doesn't remove tooth structure. Whitening before veneers. Composite before porcelain when the case allows. Orthodontics before reshaping. If veneers really are needed, we do them, but we explain what's involved and what can't be undone.
1. Consultation and assessment. Photos, a digital scan and a conversation about what you'd like to change. At this stage, listening matters more than talking.
2. Preview. Your smile is designed digitally and you see how it would look before deciding anything. In some cases a trial is done directly in your mouth so you can see it on your own face, not on a screen.
3. Plan and price. We give you the complete plan in writing, with a fixed price and payment options, before we start.
4. Treatment. Carried out in the appropriate order, usually whitening first and restorations afterwards.
5. Final adjustment. We check your bite, comfort and appearance, and correct whatever is needed.
How long does a veneer last?
Well-cared-for porcelain veneers usually last between 10 and 15 years, sometimes longer. Composite veneers last between 5 and 8 years and are easier to repair.
Does the tooth need to be reshaped?
It depends on the type. Some very thin veneers require minimal or no reshaping. Others do require removing a layer of enamel, and that's irreversible. We'll always tell you clearly beforehand.
Will they look fake?
When done well, no. The key is respecting the natural proportions and translucency of the tooth rather than going for a flat white. We'd rather have a result that looks like your own smile at its best, not a smile from an ad.
Is it covered by insurance?
Purely cosmetic work usually isn't. If part of the treatment is functional (a crown on a damaged tooth, for example), that part may be covered. We verify your plan and clearly separate what's included and what isn't.
