Same-day relief for dental emergencies — pain, broken teeth, infections. Walk-ins welcome.

Emergency Dentist in Kendall — Same-Day Relief When You Need It Most

A dental emergency doesn't wait for business hours. A cracked tooth at dinner. A knocked-out tooth at your kid's soccer game. Pain that woke you up at 3 AM and won't stop. When it happens, you need a dentist who answers the phone and gets you in fast — not next Tuesday, today.

PureSmile Miami offers emergency dental care in Kendall with same-day appointments for urgent cases. Our bilingual team is ready to help you in English or Spanish, and we accept Medicaid, PPO, HMO, and cash. Don't wait in an ER for hours only to be told you need a dentist anyway. Call us first.

What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

Not sure if your situation is an emergency? Here's a straightforward guide. If you're experiencing any of these, call us immediately:

Severe tooth pain — Pain that doesn't respond to over-the-counter medication, wakes you up at night, or makes it impossible to eat. This often signals an infection (abscess) that can spread to your jaw, neck, or even your bloodstream if untreated. Don't try to power through it.

A knocked-out tooth — Time is everything here. If you can get to us within 30 minutes, there's a strong chance we can save the tooth. Pick it up by the crown (not the root), rinse gently without scrubbing, and either place it back in the socket or keep it in milk. Then call us immediately.

A cracked or broken tooth — Whether it's from biting something hard, a sports injury, or an accident, a broken tooth needs professional attention before the exposed nerve gets infected. Rinse with warm water, apply a cold compress to your face to reduce swelling, and come in.

A lost filling or crown — When a filling or crown comes out, the underlying tooth is exposed and vulnerable to decay, sensitivity, and further damage. This isn't something you can fix with drugstore cement for long. We can often re-cement or replace the restoration the same day.

Swelling in your face or jaw — Facial swelling associated with tooth pain usually indicates a serious infection. This is one of the more urgent dental emergencies because infections in the head and neck can progress rapidly. If you also have a fever or difficulty swallowing, you should be seen within hours, not days.

Bleeding that won't stop — After an extraction, injury, or spontaneously from the gums — persistent bleeding that doesn't stop with firm pressure after 15 to 20 minutes needs professional evaluation.

What to Do Before You Get to Our Office

While you're on your way to PureSmile Miami, there are things you can do to minimize damage and manage pain:

For pain: Take ibuprofen (Advil) — it reduces both pain and inflammation. Avoid aspirin directly on the gums (this is an old myth that actually burns the tissue). A cold compress on the outside of your cheek, 15 minutes on and 15 minutes off, helps with swelling.

For a knocked-out tooth: Handle it by the crown only. Rinse gently. Try to place it back in the socket. If you can't, keep it in milk or between your cheek and gums. Do NOT wrap it in tissue or let it dry out. Every minute counts.

For a broken tooth: Rinse with warm salt water. If there's a sharp edge cutting your tongue or cheek, cover it with dental wax or sugar-free gum temporarily. Save any broken pieces if you can.

For swelling with fever: This combination suggests a spreading infection. If you can't reach us, go to an emergency room. But call us first — we can usually see you faster than an ER for dental issues, and we can provide the definitive treatment, not just antibiotics.

Why a Dentist Is Better Than the ER for Dental Emergencies

Emergency rooms in Miami-Dade are overloaded, and most don't have dentists on staff. Here's what typically happens when you go to the ER for tooth pain: you wait three to six hours, a physician prescribes antibiotics and painkillers, and you're told to follow up with a dentist. The bill? Often $800 to $2,000 — for a prescription you could have gotten faster from us.

At PureSmile Miami, you see an actual dentist who can diagnose the problem, take X-rays, and provide treatment — the same day. We can drain an abscess, stabilize a broken tooth, re-cement a crown, or start a root canal to eliminate pain at its source. The ER can manage your symptoms temporarily. We fix the problem.

Our Emergency Dental Services

When you come in for an emergency visit, here's what we can do for you on the same day:

Emergency exam and digital X-rays — We identify exactly what's going on before we touch anything. Digital X-rays give us a detailed view in seconds, with 80% less radiation than traditional film.

Pain relief — Our first priority is getting you comfortable. Depending on the situation, this might mean local anesthetic, drainage of an abscess, or starting treatment that eliminates the source of pain.

Temporary or permanent restoration — Lost a filling or crown? We often replace it the same day. For more complex damage, we'll stabilize the tooth and schedule the definitive treatment within days.

Infection management — Antibiotics when needed, combined with the drainage or treatment that actually resolves the infection. Antibiotics alone don't cure dental infections — they buy time. Treatment cures them.

Referral coordination — If your emergency requires a specialist (oral surgeon, endodontist), we coordinate the referral immediately and ensure continuity of care. You're never left figuring it out on your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you see emergency patients on weekends?
We offer Saturday appointments and do our best to accommodate emergencies outside regular hours. Call our office number — if we can't answer immediately, leave a message and we'll call you back as quickly as possible. For true medical emergencies (difficulty breathing, uncontrolled bleeding, loss of consciousness), always call 911 first.

How much does an emergency dental visit cost?
The cost depends on what treatment you need. An emergency exam with X-rays is our starting point, and we'll give you a clear breakdown of any additional treatment costs before proceeding. If you have Medicaid, your exam and many emergency treatments are covered. PPO and HMO plans typically cover emergency visits with a standard copay.

Does Medicaid cover dental emergencies?
Yes. Florida Medicaid covers emergency dental exams, X-rays, extractions, and treatment for infections and pain. PureSmile Miami is a Medicaid provider — we accept adult and pediatric Medicaid. You should never delay emergency dental care because of insurance concerns. Call us and we'll verify your coverage while you're on the way.

Can I come in without an appointment?
For emergencies, yes. Call us first so we can prepare, but we don't turn away patients in pain. We keep same-day availability specifically for urgent cases. Walk-ins are seen based on the severity of the situation.

My child knocked out a baby tooth. Is that an emergency?
Baby teeth should NOT be re-implanted (unlike permanent teeth). However, you should still bring your child in so we can check for damage to the underlying permanent tooth and surrounding tissues. If it's a permanent tooth that's been knocked out, that's a true emergency — get to us within 30 minutes for the best chance of saving it.
