A complete implant has three parts: the implant (the titanium root), the abutment and the crown. Before we start you get a written estimate with everything itemized, including the 3D scan and a bone graft if needed. No surprise line items.
It's placed under local anesthesia and many patients compare it to a simple extraction. There may be some swelling for 2-3 days afterward, managed with common pain relievers.
A single implant usually takes 3 to 6 months: 3D scan, placement, healing into the bone and final crown. In many All-on-4 cases, fixed temporary teeth are placed the same day as surgery.
It depends on the plan. Some Medicare Advantage plans cover implants or part of the cost; others don't. We check your plan for free before your visit and tell you in writing what it covers.
In many cases, yes. The 3D scan shows how much bone you have and, if there isn't enough, a graft can prepare the area. Well-controlled diabetes usually doesn't rule out an implant; we coordinate with your doctor.
With good hygiene and check-ups, an implant can last many years; the crown may need replacing over time due to wear. Smoking and gum disease are the main risks.
Only when there isn't enough bone to hold the implant. We show you on the 3D image so you can see why, and it's a separate line in the estimate. If you want a second opinion, we give you a copy of your images.
No. That day you get fixed temporary teeth. The final teeth are made once the bone and gums have healed, usually a few months later. Before we start, we walk you through each stage and the approximate dates.
