Orthodontics in Kendall, Miami

Straightening teeth isn't just about looks. Crowded or misaligned teeth are harder to clean, collect more plaque and end up causing more cavities and gum problems. An unbalanced bite puts uneven load on the jaw and can lead to wear, headaches or joint problems.

PureSmile Miami opens November 1, 2026 in Kendall. We will offer orthodontics for children, teens and adults, with traditional braces or clear aligners depending on the case, and with something especially welcome in orthodontics: the total price set from the start, with no surprises halfway through treatment.

Treatment options

Metal braces. The classic option, and still a very effective and economical choice for complex cases. Today's braces are much smaller and more comfortable than those of twenty years ago. They work especially well for complicated bites or significant rotations.

Ceramic braces. They work the same way as metal braces but are made of tooth-colored ceramic, so they're much less noticeable. A common choice for adults who need braces but work with the public.

Clear aligners. Removable, nearly invisible trays that are changed every one or two weeks. You take them out to eat and to brush, which makes hygiene much easier. They work very well for mild to moderate crowding and for relapse after earlier orthodontic treatment. They require discipline: you need to wear them 20 to 22 hours a day or treatment takes longer.

Orthodontics for adults

More and more adults are getting orthodontic treatment, with good results. Teeth move at any age as long as the bone and gums are healthy. The difference compared with a teenager is that in adults, movement is usually somewhat slower, and we first need to make sure there's no active gum disease, because moving teeth when the bone is compromised is a real problem.

Many of the adults we expect to see wore braces when they were young, didn't wear their retainer and have watched their teeth shift again over the years. These cases can often be resolved with aligners in a few months.

Orthodontics for children

A first orthodontic check-up around age 7 is a good idea. Not to put on braces at that point, but to see how the jaw is growing and catch early the things that are much easier to correct while the bone is still growing: crossbite, lack of space, open bite from thumb-sucking.

Acting early in childhood can sometimes avoid extractions or surgery later on. And if nothing needs to be done yet, we'll tell you just as clearly.

How long it takes and how much it costs

Treatment time depends on the case: simple aligner treatments can take six months, and complex cases with braces between 18 and 30 months. At your evaluation we give you a realistic estimate, not an optimistic number to get you to say yes.

About price: orthodontics is one of the treatments where unclear bills cause the most frustration. Our commitment is to give you the total treatment price in writing before we start, including check-ups and retention, and to offer you a monthly payment plan. No charges that show up halfway through.

On insurance, the plain truth: some Medicare Advantage plans and some PPOs contribute part of the cost of orthodontic treatment, usually with a lifetime maximum, and others don't cover it at all. It depends on the plan you have. We verify yours for free before giving you an estimate and tell you where things stand either way. If it covers nothing, you have the self-pay price and the monthly payment plan.

Retention is part of the treatment

This is the step that gets neglected most often and the one behind most relapses. When braces come off or aligner treatment ends, teeth tend to drift back toward their previous position for months. Without a retainer, much of the result is lost over the years.

That's why retention is always included in the plan and in the price we give you, and we explain exactly how long you need to wear your retainer.

Frequently asked questions

Am I too old for orthodontics?
No. As long as the bone and gums are healthy, teeth can be moved at any age. We will treat patients of all ages.

Do braces hurt?
For the first few days after they're placed and after each adjustment there's some discomfort and a feeling of pressure, which is managed with mild pain relievers and passes in two or three days.

Aligners or braces?
It depends on the case, not on preference. Aligners handle mild and moderate crowding very well. Complex bite cases or severe rotations are better treated with braces. We'll tell you the truth about what works for your mouth, even if it's not the option you came in looking for.

Does my Medicare Advantage plan cover orthodontics?
It varies a lot. Some Medicare Advantage plans and some PPOs contribute part of the cost, often with a lifetime maximum, and others don't cover orthodontics. We verify it for free and tell you clearly before giving you an estimate. And if your plan has a dental benefit, remember that in most plans it renews every year and whatever you don't use is lost.
