Composite is a tooth-colored material that is shaped directly on your teeth to change their shape, close gaps or repair a chipped edge. It is used for dental bonding and composite veneers. In most cases we work on your natural tooth with little or no drilling, and many treatments are finished in a single visit. At PureSmile in Kendall, we first go over what you want to change and give you the total price in writing before we start.
If there is decay or gum inflammation, we treat that first. If teeth are very crooked, it may be better to straighten them first with clear aligners.
Composite is faster, keeps more of your tooth and can be touched up. Porcelain lasts longer and does not stain, but it takes more visits and requires preparing the tooth. We compare both on our porcelain veneers and smile design page, and recommend the one that fits your case best.
We confirm the exact time before booking so you can plan your day.
It depends on how many teeth are treated and what needs to be corrected. After your exam, and before we start, you get the total price in writing. We offer payment plans and financing.
Most of the time no anesthesia is needed, because the work is done on the enamel and the tooth is barely touched. If it is needed, we use local anesthesia.
Usually 4 to 8 years, depending on care and habits (for example, clenching or biting hard objects). Regular checkups and polishing help them last longer.
Over the years it can pick up some color from coffee, tea, wine or smoking. Polishing at your cleanings helps keep it looking good.
Yes. One advantage of composite is that it can be repaired or touched up in the office without replacing the whole piece.
If it is cosmetic, usually not. If it repairs a broken tooth, some plans cover part of it. We check your plan for free before your visit.
